Lime 2 pieces
White sugar 1 tsp (to taste)
Chicken seasoning (Royco) To taste
Salt To taste
Cooking oil 5 tbsp (for frying)

Instructions

  2. Soak the Fish: Soak the salted ikan gabus in hot water for about 5 minutes. Drain and fry until crispy, then set aside.
  3. Blend the Spices: Coarsely grind the red shallots, garlic, bird’s eye chili, and red chili (adjust to taste).
  4. Cook the Pete: Heat approximately 5 tablespoons of cooking oil in a pan. Sauté the sliced pete until fragrant, then add the ground spices.
  5. Combine Ingredients: Incorporate the fried ikan gabus into the pan, seasoning with salt, sugar, and chicken seasoning (Royco).
  6. Finish with Lime: Squeeze the juice of the lime over the dish, mix well, and then remove from heat.
