Tumis Sardine Banten with Tofu

Ingredients:

  • 1 can Banten sardines
  • 2 blocks tofu, diced
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 3 shallots
  • 2 small green tomatoes
  • 4 bird’s eye chilies (adjust quantity to taste for spiciness)
  • Seasoning (e.g., MSG or salt) to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Start by washing the garlic, chilies, and tomatoes thoroughly. Slice the garlic, shallots, and tomatoes. Chop the chilies to your desired size.

  2. Fry the Tofu: Heat oil in a pan and fry the tofu cubes until they develop a light crust. Ensure the tofu is not overly crispy.

  3. Sauté Aromatics: In the same pan, sauté the garlic, shallots, and chilies until they become fragrant.

  4. Add Sardine Sauce: Pour in the sardine sauce from the can and mix it with the sautéed ingredients. Add a small amount of water if needed to achieve the desired consistency.

  5. Combine Tofu and Sardines: Gently fold the fried tofu into the mixture, followed by the sardines. Stir well, and season with a pinch of MSG or salt to taste. Cook for a few more minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
