Sautéed Green Beans with Beef Meatballs

Ingredients:

  • 250 grams young green beans, cleaned, washed, and cut into pieces
  • 5 beef meatballs, sliced
  • 3 red curly chilies, cleaned, sliced diagonally
  • 4 shallots, thinly sliced
  • 3 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
  • 1 piece of galangal, cleaned and smashed
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Salt, to taste
  • Sugar, to taste
  • Cooking oil

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Aromatics:
Begin by heating a pan over medium heat. Add a small amount of cooking oil. Once the oil is hot, add the sliced shallots, garlic, red curly chilies, smashed galangal, and bay leaf. Sauté the mixture, stirring frequently, until fragrant and the shallots are translucent.

  2. Add the Main Ingredients:
Incorporate the sliced beef meatballs and the cut green beans into the pan. Stir well to combine with the aromatics. Season with salt and sugar according to your taste preference. Mix thoroughly.

  3. Cook the Dish:
Pour in a small amount of water to help cook the green beans and to allow the flavors to meld. Continue to stir the mixture occasionally. Let it simmer until the green beans are tender and the water has mostly evaporated, leaving a slightly thickened sauce.

  4. Finish and Serve:
Once the liquid has reduced and the dish has a nice consistency, remove from heat. Serve warm as a delicious and savory side dish.

This sautéed green beans with beef meatballs combines savory and slightly sweet flavors with a touch of spice, making it a perfect complement to any meal. Enjoy!
