Description:

This Southwestern Beef Brisket recipe yields a mouthwateringly tender dish with a delightful hint of spiciness. Perfect for a weeknight dinner, it pairs wonderfully with creamy mashed potatoes on the side. And here’s a tip – it’s even better sliced for sandwiches the next day!

Ingredients:

Quantity Ingredient
1 Beef brisket
Water
3 cups Tomato sauce
1 1/2 Onion
1 Red wine vinegar
1 Chili powder
2 tsp Dried oregano
1 tsp Ground cumin
1 tsp Garlic powder
3 cloves Garlic
3/4 tsp Salt
1/2 – 1 Cayenne pepper
1/4 tsp Carrots

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. Season Brisket: Season the beef brisket generously with salt and pepper.

  3. Brown Brisket: In a Dutch oven, heat oil over medium-high heat. Brown the beef brisket on both sides until nicely seared. Once browned, drain any excess fat.

  4. Prepare Sauce: In a mixing bowl, combine the tomato sauce, diced onions, red wine vinegar, chili powder, dried oregano, ground cumin, garlic powder, minced garlic cloves, salt, and cayenne pepper (to taste).

  5. Pour Sauce Over Meat: Pour the prepared sauce mixture over the browned beef brisket, ensuring it’s evenly coated.

  6. Bake: Cover the Dutch oven tightly with a lid and place it in the preheated oven. Bake for 2 hours at 325 degrees Fahrenheit.

  7. Add Veggies: After 2 hours of baking, add the sliced red peppers and carrots to the Dutch oven. Continue baking for an additional 1 hour, or until the meat is tender and easily shreds with a fork.

  8. Serve: Once cooked, remove the meat and veggies from the Dutch oven and transfer them to a serving platter. Skim off any excess fat from the top of the pan juices.

  9. Prepare Gravy: Place the pan juices back on the stove and simmer to reduce, creating a delicious gravy to serve alongside the brisket.

  10. Slice and Serve: Slice the beef brisket thinly against the grain for maximum tenderness. Serve with the roasted veggies and the flavorful pan juices.

Enjoy this savory Southwestern Beef Brisket with your favorite sides and relish in its tender, spicy goodness!
