Instructions
-
Fry the Tempeh
Heat oil in a pan and fry the diced tempeh until golden brown, but do not let it get too crispy. Once done, remove and set it aside. -
Prepare the Aromatics
In the same pan, leave a small amount of oil, and sauté the sliced shallots and garlic until they become fragrant and slightly golden. -
Add the Green Chilies
Add the sliced green chilies to the pan and continue sautéing until the chilies release their aroma and slightly soften. -
Combine with the Tempeh
Add the fried tempeh back into the pan and stir well to coat the tempeh with the aromatics and chilies. -
Season the Dish
Pour in a sufficient amount of sweet soy sauce, and sprinkle in salt, sugar, and a flavor enhancer if using. Stir everything together and adjust the seasoning to taste. -
Cook Through
Let everything cook together for a few more minutes until all the flavors are well absorbed by the tempeh. -
Serve
Your Orek Tempe with Green Chili is ready to be served as a delicious side dish with rice or as part of a larger meal.
Tips:
- You can adjust the spiciness by adding more green chilies or substituting with spicier varieties like bird’s eye chili.
- If you prefer a sweeter dish, feel free to add more sweet soy sauce to taste.
