Stir-Fried Bean Sprouts with Tofu, Eggs, and Chicken Liver

This vibrant and savory dish combines crispy tofu, tender chicken liver, and fresh bean sprouts in a flavorful stir-fry that’s perfect for a satisfying meal. Here’s how to prepare this Indonesian-inspired recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 1 egg
  • 2 chicken livers, diced
  • 1/4 cup bean sprouts
  • 2 pieces of yellow tofu, cut into cubes
  • 3 shallots, thinly sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 red chili pepper, sliced
  • Seasoning powder to taste
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil for frying
  • A splash of water

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Aromatics: Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the sliced shallots and minced garlic, and sauté until fragrant and golden brown.

  2. Add Heat: Stir in the sliced red chili pepper and cook for an additional minute to release its flavor.

  3. Cook the Protein: Add the diced chicken liver to the pan, stirring occasionally until it starts to brown. Crack the egg into the pan, and gently scramble it until fully cooked.

  4. Incorporate the Tofu: Add the cubed yellow tofu, which should be pre-fried until lightly golden. Stir to combine with the other ingredients.

  5. Season and Flavor: Sprinkle in the seasoning powder and granulated sugar according to your taste preferences. Add the chopped tomato and a splash of water. Stir well to blend the flavors and let the dish simmer until the vegetables are tender and the flavors are well combined.

  6. Finish and Serve: Once everything is cooked through and the flavors are melded together, remove from heat. Serve the stir-fry hot, garnished with additional fresh herbs if desired.

This hearty dish pairs wonderfully with steamed rice or can be enjoyed on its own for a quick and flavorful meal.
