Gurame Asam Manis Pedas

Ingredients

Ingredient Quantity
Gurame fish fillet 1 whole
Lime juice 1 piece
Seasoned flour To taste
All-purpose flour To taste
For the sauce:
Red shallots 4 cloves
Garlic 3 cloves
Small onion 1 piece
Curly red chili peppers 5 pieces
Bird’s eye chili 3 pieces
Small tomato 1 piece
Bell pepper 1/4 piece
Tomato sauce 3 tablespoons
Chili sauce 4 tablespoons
Sugar, salt, and ground pepper To taste

Instructions

  1. Preparation of the Fish: Clean the gurame fish thoroughly, cut it into pieces, and marinate with lime juice for 15 minutes. Rinse again with clean water.

  2. Flour Mixture: In a bowl, combine seasoned flour with all-purpose flour to reduce saltiness, and let it rest in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.

  3. Frying the Fish: Heat oil over medium heat and fry the marinated fish pieces until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  4. Sauce Preparation: Finely chop the shallots and garlic. Thinly slice the onion, chilies, bell pepper, and tomato.

  5. Cooking the Sauce: In a pan, heat 3 tablespoons of cooking oil. Sauté the chopped shallots and garlic until fragrant, then add the sliced chilies and bell pepper. After a few moments, incorporate the tomato, tomato sauce, salt, sugar, and ground pepper. Stir until the tomatoes soften and the sauce thickens. If it becomes too thick, add a little water.

  6. Final Assembly: Serve the crispy fried gurame topped with the flavorful sauce.

Enjoy your delicious Gurame Asam Manis Pedas! 😊
