Tempe Jeletot Recipe

Ingredients

Tempe 1 batang
For Sambal
Bird’s Eye Chili 100 grams
Tomato 1 piece
Red Onion 2 cloves
Garlic 2 cloves
Salt or Seasoning to taste
For Batter
All-Purpose Flour 100 grams
Ground Pepper 1 teaspoon
Royco Seasoning 1 packet
Water as needed
Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tempe: Slice the tempe into 1 cm thick pieces and make a slit halfway through each piece.

  2. Make the Sambal: Clean and prepare the sambal ingredients. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan, add the sambal mixture, and cook until fragrant. Remove from heat and transfer to a mortar and pestle. Crush to your desired consistency (coarse or fine).

  3. Prepare the Batter: In a mixing bowl, combine all the batter ingredients. Mix well and adjust seasoning to taste.

  4. Stuff the Tempe: Fill each tempe piece with the sambal mixture according to your preference.

  5. Fry the Tempe: Heat enough oil in a pan for frying. Dip the stuffed tempe into the batter, coating evenly, and carefully place in the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, turning occasionally for even cooking. Remove and drain excess oil on paper towels.

  6. Serve: Arrange the tempe jeletot on a serving plate and enjoy!
