Spicy Tahu Soup with Shrimp Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 250 grams peeled shrimp
  • 4 large blocks of firm tofu, cut into large cubes
  • 3 leaves of cabbage, shredded
  • 1 small package of glass noodles (soun), soaked in hot water for a few minutes
  • 1 stalk of green onion, sliced
  • 1/2 tomato, chopped
  • 500 ml water

For the Seasoning:

  • 3 cloves garlic, smashed and thinly sliced
  • 4 shallots, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • Salt, to taste
  • Sugar, to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • Lime juice, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Broth:

    • In a large pot, bring the water to a boil. Add the garlic, shallots, and onion, and cook until the aromatics are tender and fragrant.
  2. Cook the Main Ingredients:

    • Add the peeled shrimp and tofu cubes to the pot. Continue cooking until the shrimp turns pink and the tofu is heated through.
  3. Add Vegetables:

    • Stir in the shredded cabbage, sliced green onion, and chopped tomato. Let it cook for a few minutes until the cabbage is tender but still crisp.
  4. Season and Flavor:

    • Season the soup with chili powder, fish sauce, salt, sugar, and ground black pepper. Adjust the flavors to your liking.
  5. Finish with Lime:
