Firm tofu 2 pieces
Fried peanuts (kacang tanah) 1 handful
Fried shallots 2 tablespoons
For the sambal:
Garlic 1 clove
Bird’s eye chilies (cabe rawit) 7 pieces
Hot oil 1 tablespoon
Salt 2 pinches
Sugar 1 pinch
Sweet soy sauce (kecap manis) 5 tablespoons
Ground peanuts 1 tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tofu: Cut the tofu into small cubes and fry until they are nearly cooked, but ensure they do not become overly dry or crispy.

  2. Make the Sambal: In a mortar and pestle, grind together the garlic and bird’s eye chilies. Mix this with hot oil, salt, sugar, and sweet soy sauce until well combined.
