Tuna Corn Puffs Recipe

If you’re looking for a delightful and savory snack that’s both easy to make and irresistibly tasty, these Tuna Corn Puffs are just the ticket. Perfect for any occasion, these puffs combine tender chunks of tuna with sweet corn and are encased in a crisp, flaky puff pastry. Let’s dive into how to make this scrumptious treat!

Ingredients:

  • 1 can of chili tuna (I used Maya brand, but any chili tuna will do)
  • 2 cloves of garlic, finely minced
  • 1 ear of corn, kernels removed and cooked
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced (optional, but recommended for extra flavor)
  • Chili flakes or Bon Cabe (optional, depending on your spice preference)
  • Salt, sugar, and ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2 hard-boiled eggs, chopped
  • 1 package of instant puff pastry (thawed)
  • Oregano and chili sauce (for topping; parsley is suggested in the original recipe but can be substituted with oregano)
  • 1 egg yolk, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ingredients:
Begin by gathering all your ingredients. Ensure that the puff pastry is fully thawed before you start working with it.

  2. Cook the Filling:
In a pan, heat a small amount of oil over medium heat. Add the finely minced garlic and sliced onion (if using). Sauté until the onion becomes translucent and the garlic is fragrant.

Next, add the canned chili tuna, stirring it well with the onions and garlic. Incorporate the cooked corn kernels into the mixture. Season with salt, sugar, and ground black pepper to taste. If you like a bit of heat, add chili flakes or Bon Cabe. Cook for a few minutes until everything is well combined and heated through. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.

  3. Assemble the Puffs:
Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Cut it into squares or rectangles, depending on your preferred puff size.

Place a small amount of the tuna and corn mixture in the center of each puff pastry square. Top with a few pieces of chopped hard-boiled egg.

Fold the pastry over the filling to create a pocket. Press the edges together to seal, using the tines of a fork to crimp and secure the edges.

  4. Prepare for Baking:
Brush the tops of the puffs with the beaten egg yolk for a golden, glossy finish. Sprinkle with oregano and drizzle with a bit of chili sauce for added flavor and a touch of heat.

  5. Bake:
Preheat your oven to 200°C (about 390°F). Arrange the prepared puffs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the puffs are golden brown and crispy. Baking times may vary slightly depending on your oven, so keep an eye on them to ensure they don’t overbake.

  6. Serve and Enjoy:
Once baked, remove the puffs from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. These Tuna Corn Puffs are perfect as an appetizer, snack, or even a light meal.

Enjoy your homemade Tuna Corn Puffs with a side of your favorite dipping sauce or simply as they are. Happy cooking!

Feel free to customize the filling to your taste preferences and adjust the seasoning as needed. This recipe is versatile and can easily be adapted with different ingredients or spices to suit your palate. Enjoy experimenting with this delicious treat!
