Category: Appetizer
Servings: 4
Ingredients:
Ingredient | Quantity |
---|---|
Tuna (fresh, sashimi-grade) | 550g |
Spring onion stalks | 20g |
Sesame oil | 20g |
Sesame seeds | 1 teaspoon |
Fresh chili pepper | 20g |
Hawaiian salt | 1 teaspoon |
Soy sauce | 20g |
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Tuna: Ensure you’ve bought fresh tuna that has been properly frozen for safety reasons. It is recommended to freeze the tuna at -18°C for 96 hours before use, then thaw it. Once ready, slice the tuna into 2 cm thick slices, then cut each slice into strips, and finally, into 2 cm cubes. Transfer the tuna cubes to a large mixing bowl.
-
Chop the Vegetables: Remove the stem from the fresh chili pepper, scrape out the seeds, and slice it into thin rings. Next, chop the spring onion stalks finely with a knife.
-
Season the Tuna: Add the chopped spring onion, sliced chili pepper, and sesame seeds to the bowl with the tuna. Drizzle the mixture with sesame oil and soy sauce. Sprinkle in the Hawaiian salt to taste.
-
Mix and Marinate: Use a spoon to gently mix all the ingredients together, ensuring the tuna is well coated with the seasonings.
-
Let It Rest: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and allow it to marinate for about 10-15 minutes for the flavors to meld together.
Serving Suggestion: Serve this deliciously fresh and spicy poke as an appetizer, pairing it with rice, or enjoy it as a light, healthy meal on its own.
Enjoy your flavorful Tuna Poke!
