Nasi Tim Tuna: A Savory Indonesian Tuna Stew

Ingredients:

  • 250 grams of Tuna Fillet
  • 1 large Onion, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 5 Shallots, thinly sliced
  • 7 Bird’s Eye Chilies, finely chopped
  • 5 Curly Chilies, sliced
  • 1 finger-length Galangal, sliced
  • Bay Leaves and Lemongrass
  • Sugar, Salt, and Flavor Enhancer to taste
  • Steamed Rice

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Tuna:

    • Begin by frying the tuna fillet until it is cooked through. Once cooked, shred the tuna into small, bite-sized pieces and set aside.
  2. Create the Spice Paste:

    • Blend the onion, garlic, shallots, bird’s eye chilies, and curly chilies until they form a smooth paste.
  3. Sauté the Spice Paste:

    • In a pan, heat some oil over medium heat. Add the blended spice paste along with the sliced galangal, bay leaves, and lemongrass. Sauté the mixture until it becomes aromatic and the oil starts to separate.
  4. Combine Tuna and Spice Paste:

    • Add the shredded tuna into the pan with the spice paste. Cook the mixture thoroughly, allowing the flavors to meld. Season with sugar, salt, and flavor enhancer to taste. Adjust the seasoning as needed.
  5. Shape and Serve:

    • Transfer the cooked tuna mixture into small bowls or molds, pressing it down slightly to shape. Let it sit for a few minutes to firm up.
  6. Enjoy:

    • Serve the Nasi Tim Tuna warm, alongside steamed rice for a delightful and satisfying meal.

This recipe brings together tender tuna with a rich blend of spices, creating a comforting and flavorful dish that’s perfect for any meal.
