Instructions

  1. Heat the Oil: In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, proceed to the next step.

  2. Sauté the Garlic: Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for about 1 minute, allowing it to become fragrant. After this, discard the garlic to avoid burning, leaving behind the infused oil for the next steps.

  3. Cook the Onion: Add the diced onion to the skillet and sauté for about 5 minutes or until it softens and becomes translucent. Stir occasionally to prevent burning.

  4. Prepare the Sauce: Stir in the canned tomatoes with their juice, crumbled turkey sausage, and dried red pepper flakes. Allow this mixture to cook over medium-high heat for around 20 minutes, or until the sauce thickens slightly and the flavors meld together.

  5. Cook the Pasta: While the sauce is simmering, cook your pasta according to the package directions. Once cooked, drain the pasta and set aside.

  6. Combine the Pasta and Sauce: Add the drained pasta to the skillet with the sausage and tomato sauce. Toss well to coat the pasta evenly with the flavorful sauce.

  7. Add the Mozzarella: Stir in the shredded smoked mozzarella cheese, allowing it to melt into the sauce and create a creamy texture.
