Spinach Coriander Dosa (Palak Dhania Dosa)

Description:
Dosa is a staple breakfast in South Indian households, often served with chutney or sambar. This version, made with spinach and coriander, adds extra flavor and nutrition, making it a perfect alternative when you don’t have the usual dosa batter on hand. The combination of wholesome ingredients like oats, semolina, and wheat flour makes this dosa both tasty and nutritious.

Cuisine: South Indian
Course: South Indian Breakfast
Diet: High Protein Vegetarian

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup spinach, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup coriander leaves, finely chopped
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 green chillies, finely chopped
  • 1 cup wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/2 cup semolina
  • 1 tablespoon whole black pepper, ground
  • Olive oil (as needed)

Preparation Time: 10 minutes

Cooking Time: 45 minutes

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Spinach and Coriander Paste:
In a blender or mixer grinder, blend the spinach and coriander leaves into a smooth paste. Set aside.

  2. Make the Dosa Batter:
In a mixing bowl, combine the wheat flour with enough water to make a thick batter. Add the spinach-coriander paste, oats, chopped green chilies, and ground black pepper. Mix well to form a dosa-like batter.

  3. Cook the Dosa:
Heat a non-stick pan and add a little ghee. Use a kitchen towel to spread and wipe the ghee evenly across the pan. Pour a ladle of the batter into the center of the pan and spread it out evenly to form a round dosa.

  4. Fry the Dosa:
Drizzle olive oil around the edges of the dosa. Cook until the dosa turns light brown on the bottom, then flip it and cook the other side. Repeat with the remaining batter.

  5. Serve:
Serve the Palak Dhania Dosa hot with Tomato Onion Sambar and Coconut Chutney for a complete and satisfying breakfast.

Enjoy this healthy and flavorful variation of the traditional dosa!
