Gadon Tahu Recipe
Ingredients:
- 4 pieces (300 g) white tofu
- 1 egg
- 2 cloves garlic
- 3 shallots
- 2 candlenuts
- Bird’s eye chilies to taste
- 1 large green chili
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon sugar
- Fresh leaves and skewers for wrapping
- 1 kaffir lime leaf (optional)
Instructions:

Prepare the Spice Mixture:
- Start by finely grinding the candlenuts, garlic, and shallots together until smooth.

Cook the Spices:
- In a pan, sauté the ground spice mixture along with the kaffir lime leaf (if using) until fragrant and golden brown.

Prepare the Tofu Mixture:
- Crumble the tofu into a large bowl and mix in the sautéed spices. Add sugar, salt, sliced green chili, and the beaten egg. Combine all ingredients thoroughly.

Wrap and Steam:
- Place 2 tablespoons of the tofu mixture onto a piece of fresh leaf, placing a bird’s eye chili on top. Fold the leaf around the tofu mixture and secure with a skewer.
- Arrange the wrapped tofu packets in a steamer and steam for 15-20 minutes until cooked through.

- For an extra layer of flavor, you can grill the steamed tofu packets briefly before serving.
