Tahu Bakso Recipe

Tahu Bakso, a delightful and savory Indonesian snack, combines crispy fried tofu with a flavorful, seasoned filling. This recipe is perfect for those who enjoy a satisfying, homemade treat that offers a delicious blend of textures and flavors.

Ingredients:

  • 5 pieces of fried tofu
  • 2 tablespoons tapioca flour (tepung kanji)
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (tepung terigu)
  • 1/2 packet of seasoning mix (penyedap rasa)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper (lada bubuk)
  • Salt to taste
  • Warm water, as needed

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the tapioca flour, all-purpose flour, seasoning mix, ground black pepper, and salt. Gradually add warm water to the mixture until it forms a smooth, thick batter. The batter should be thick enough to hold its shape but not too dry.

  2. Stuff the Tofu: Carefully slice one side of each fried tofu piece to create a pocket. Be careful not to cut all the way through. Spoon the prepared batter into the pocket of each tofu piece, ensuring it is well-filled.

  3. Steam the Tofu: Place the stuffed tofu pieces in a steamer. Steam over medium heat for about 20 minutes, or until the filling is cooked through and firm.

  4. Serve: Remove the tofu from the steamer and let it cool slightly before serving. Tahu Bakso is best enjoyed warm, either as a snack or as part of a meal.
