Teriyaki Shredded Chicken (Ayam Suwir Teriyaki Manis)

Ingredients:

  • 1 whole chicken (cut into 4 pieces, preferably thighs)
  • 5 cloves garlic (finely chopped)
  • 1 large onion (chopped into large pieces)
  • 2 stalks green onions (sliced diagonally)
  • 3 green chilies (or green bell peppers, sliced diagonally, seeds removed)
  • 1 packet teriyaki sauce
  • Oyster sauce
  • Soy sauce
  • Sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
  • Salt
  • Granulated sugar
  • Black pepper
  • 1/2 piece of palm sugar (finely grated) – optional
  • Cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Margarine for sautĂ©ing

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Chicken: Wash the chicken pieces thoroughly. Boil them in water until they are half-cooked or fully cooked, depending on your preference. Once cooked, set aside to cool. Once the chicken is cool enough to handle, shred it into bite-sized pieces.

  2. Prepare the Ingredients: Chop the garlic finely. Wash the green onions, onion, and green chilies (or bell peppers) and then slice them accordingly. In a bowl, mix 1/2 cup of water with 1/2 tablespoon of cornstarch and set aside.

  3. Sauté the Aromatics: Heat margarine in a pan or skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped garlic and sauté until fragrant.
