Spicy Sweet Soy Tofu Recipe
Ingredients
| Ingredient | Quantity |
|---|---|
| Firm White Tofu | 5 pieces |
| Shallots | 2 cloves |
| Bird’s Eye Chilies | 7 pieces |
| Sweet Soy Sauce | 5 tablespoons |
| Tomato | 1 whole |
| Salt | A pinch |
| Seasoning (optional) | To taste |
Instructions
-
Fry the Tofu
Begin by cutting the tofu into bite-sized pieces. Heat a pan over medium-high heat and fry the tofu pieces until golden and crispy on all sides. Set them aside to drain any excess oil.
-
Prepare the Spice Mixture
In a mortar and pestle or using a food processor, grind together the bird’s eye chilies, a pinch of salt, and your desired amount of seasoning (optional) until it forms a coarse paste. Adjust the amount of chilies based on your preferred spice level.
-
Slice the Aromatics
Thinly slice the shallots and the tomato. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced shallots and tomato with the chili paste you’ve just made.
-
Add Sweet Soy Sauce
Pour in the sweet soy sauce over the chili-tomato mixture and stir well to combine, creating a fragrant sauce.
-
Mix in the Tofu
Gently toss the fried tofu pieces into the bowl, coating them evenly with the sweet soy and chili mixture.
-
