Spicy Sweet Soy Tofu Recipe

Bird’s Eye Chilies 7 pieces

Instructions

  1. Fry the Tofu
    Begin by cutting the tofu into bite-sized pieces. Heat a pan over medium-high heat and fry the tofu pieces until golden and crispy on all sides. Set them aside to drain any excess oil.

  2. Prepare the Spice Mixture
    In a mortar and pestle or using a food processor, grind together the bird’s eye chilies, a pinch of salt, and your desired amount of seasoning (optional) until it forms a coarse paste. Adjust the amount of chilies based on your preferred spice level.

  3. Slice the Aromatics
    Thinly slice the shallots and the tomato. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced shallots and tomato with the chili paste you’ve just made.

  4. Add Sweet Soy Sauce

  5. Mix in the Tofu
    Gently toss the fried tofu pieces into the bowl, coating them evenly with the sweet soy and chili mixture.
