  • 1 cup prunes
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 tomato, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 1 tsp nutmeg powder
  • 1 tsp carom seeds (ajwain)
  • 4 tbsp red chili flakes
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • Salt, to taste

Preparation Time: 10 mins

Cooking Time: 20 mins

Instructions:

  1. To make the chutney, start by heating a little oil in a pan. Add the carom seeds and cook for 15 seconds.
  2. Next, add the chopped onion and cook until it softens.
  3. Add the chopped tomato, cinnamon powder, nutmeg powder, red chili flakes, honey, vinegar, and salt. Cook for 4–5 minutes, until the tomato softens.
  4. Mash the mixture and add the prunes. Pour in 1/2 cup water and cook for another 15 minutes.
  5. Turn off the heat and let the chutney cool.
  6. Once it cools down, blend it into a coarse paste using a blender.
  7. Serve the chutney with dishes like dosa or sandwiches, or even enjoy it with your favorite snacks.

This spiced prune chutney pairs perfectly with ghee-roasted dosa and filter coffee for a delightful breakfast!
