Ingredients:
- 1/4 kg tuna fillet
- 1/2 cup Sajiku seasoned flour
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- Salt, to taste
- Seasoning (Masako), to taste
- Marinade:
- 1 egg
- Salt, to taste
- Juice of 1 lime
- For the Sauce:
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 shallots, minced
- 1/2 cup sliced onion
- 5 small chili peppers, sliced
- 2 tablespoons chili sauce
- 2 tablespoons tomato ketchup
- 1/2 tablespoon cornstarch, dissolved in 2 tablespoons water
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Tuna:
- Cut the tuna fillet into 1 cm (about 0.4 inches) pieces. Season with salt and lime juice. Let it marinate for 15 minutes.
- After marinating, dip the tuna pieces into a beaten egg, ensuring they are well-coated. Allow them to rest for another 15 minutes.
-
Coat and Fry the Tuna:
- Mix the Sajiku seasoned flour with all-purpose flour. Coat each piece of marinated tuna in this flour mixture, pressing lightly to ensure the coating sticks.
- Heat oil in a deep pan or fryer until it reaches a temperature suitable for deep frying.
- Fry the coated tuna pieces in the hot oil until golden brown and crispy. Ensure the oil covers the tuna pieces completely during frying. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.
-
Prepare the Sauce:
- In a separate pan, heat a small amount of oil over medium heat. Sauté the minced garlic, shallots, and chili peppers until fragrant and slightly softened.
- Add the sliced onion and continue to cook until it becomes translucent.
- Pour in half a cup of water, then add the dissolved cornstarch. Stir continuously until the mixture thickens.
-
Finish the Sauce:
- Stir in the chili sauce and tomato ketchup. Season with salt and additional seasoning to taste.
- Let the sauce simmer until it has a slightly thick consistency.
-
Combine and Serve:
- Gently fold the fried tuna pieces into the sauce, ensuring they are well-coated.
- Cook for a brief moment to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Remove from heat and serve immediately, garnished with additional sliced onions if desired.
