Teriyaki Chicken and Sausage

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams chicken fillet, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 3 chicken sausages, sliced
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 sachet Teriyaki sauce (such as Saori brand)
  • 4 tablespoons sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
  • 250 ml water
  • Ground black pepper, to taste
  • Bouillon powder, to taste
  • Granulated sugar, to taste
  • Salt, to taste
  • Red chili powder, to taste
  • Cooking oil, for sautéing
  • Toasted sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Sauté Onions: Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté until they are fragrant and translucent.

  2. Add Ingredients: Pour in the water, followed by the chicken fillet pieces and sliced sausages. Stir in the Teriyaki sauce, sweet soy sauce, ground black pepper, bouillon powder, granulated sugar, salt, and red chili powder. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.

  3. Simmer: Reduce the heat to low and allow the mixture to simmer gently. Stir occasionally and cook until the liquid has reduced and absorbed into the chicken and sausages, which should take about 15-20 minutes.

  4. Finish and Serve: Once the sauce has thickened and the chicken and sausages are well-coated, remove from heat. Transfer the dish to a serving platter and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds if desired.

  5. Enjoy: Serve your Teriyaki Chicken and Sausage with steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal. Enjoy this savory and slightly sweet dish as a delightful addition to your dinner table.
