Experience the delightful blend of flavors with this Homemade Selad Beef recipe. This dish combines savory grilled ground beef with a tangy, sweet-sour dressing and fresh vegetables. Perfect for a hearty meal or a festive gathering, this recipe offers a delicious twist on classic beef dishes.

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg (2.2 lbs) ground beef
  • 7 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • Sugar, to taste
  • Vinegar, to taste
  • Sweet soy sauce (Kecap Manis), to taste
  • Fresh lettuce leaves
  • Fresh cucumber, sliced
  • Boiled carrots, sliced
  • Boiled green beans, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 fresh tomatoes, sliced
  • French fries, for serving
  • Mayonnaise, for serving
  • Cornstarch, for binding

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Beef Mixture:

    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with finely minced garlic, salt, cornstarch, chopped onion, sugar, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
  2. Cook the Beef:

    • Heat a non-stick pan or griddle over medium heat. Form the beef mixture into patties or use it as a filling for kebabs, if desired.
    • Grill or pan-fry the beef patties until fully cooked through, about 5-7 minutes on each side. Once done, brush with sweet soy sauce during the last few minutes of cooking for added flavor.
  3. Prepare the Sweet-Sour Dressing:

    • In a small saucepan, combine vinegar (or tamarind water if preferred), a little sugar, finely minced garlic, salt, and a small amount of sweet soy sauce. Cook over low heat, stirring frequently, until the mixture is well blended and slightly thickened. Adjust the seasoning to taste and set aside.
  4. Assemble the Salad:

    • Arrange the cooked beef patties or kebabs on a serving plate. Surround with fresh lettuce leaves, sliced cucumber, boiled carrots, boiled green beans, and fresh tomato slices.
    • Add a side of French fries if desired.
  5. Serve:

    • Drizzle the sweet-sour dressing over the beef and vegetables. Garnish with a dollop of mayonnaise if desired.

Enjoy this Homemade Selad Beef as a vibrant and satisfying meal that brings together a symphony of flavors and textures. Perfect for impressing guests or treating yourself to a delightful home-cooked dish.
