Sayur Tauge Tahu Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 250g bean sprouts (tauge)
  • 5 pieces of tofu (tahu)
  • 1 ripe tomato
  • 1 bunch green onions (bawang daun)
  • 1 clove shallot (bawang merah)
  • 1 clove garlic (bawang putih)
  • Flavor enhancer (optional)
  • Brown or white sugar
  • Cooking oil
  • Water

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Start by cleaning the bean sprouts thoroughly, removing any young leaves and roots. Wash all the other ingredients well.

  2. Sauté Aromatics: Thinly slice the shallot and garlic. Heat a little cooking oil in a pan over medium heat, then sauté the sliced shallot and garlic until they become fragrant and golden brown.

  3. Cook the Bean Sprouts: Add enough water to the pan to cover the ingredients. Bring the water to a boil, then add the cleaned bean sprouts. Let them simmer until they are tender.

  4. Add Tofu: Cut the tofu into small cubes. For a richer flavor and better texture, it is recommended to fry the tofu pieces until they are half-cooked before adding them to the soup. Add the tofu to the pan and cook until it is fully heated through.

  5. Incorporate Vegetables and Seasonings: Dice the tomato and chop the green onions. Add them to the pan along with your chosen flavor enhancer (if using) and sugar to taste. Stir well and adjust the seasoning according to your preference.

  6. Final Touches: Taste the dish and adjust the seasoning if needed. Allow everything to simmer for a few more minutes to let the flavors meld together.

  7. Serve and Enjoy: Once the flavors are well combined and the tofu is fully cooked, your Sayur Tauge Tahu is ready to be served. Enjoy this comforting and flavorful dish hot.
