- 15 potatoes
- 2 cans Campbell’s Beef and Barley Soup concentrate (or beef bouillon concentrate)

- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Pie dough (enough to line the bottom and cover the top of the pan)
Instructions:
-
Preparation:
- Peel and cube all the potatoes, setting them aside.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare your baking dish. For the full recipe, use a turkey basting pan with a lid. For a smaller recipe, a stock pot will suffice.
-
Cooking the Meat Mixture:
- In a large pot, combine the ground pork, hamburger meat, 2 cans of Campbell’s Soup (or beef bouillon concentrate), water, salt, and pepper.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer until the meat is fully cooked.
- Taste the mixture and adjust seasoning as needed.
-
Assembling the Tourtiere:
- Line the bottom of your baking dish with pie dough.
- Spread half of the cubed potatoes evenly over the dough.
- Pour the cooked meat mixture over the layer of potatoes.
- Add the remaining potatoes on top of the meat mixture.
- Ensure that some of the liquid from the meat mixture is visible through the top layer of potatoes.
-
Sealing and Baking:
- Cover the Tourtiere with another layer of pie dough, sealing the edges tightly.
- Make four slits at the center of the pie dough to allow steam to escape during baking.
- Cover the dish with foil or a lid and place it in the preheated oven.
- Bake for 1 hour at 400°F (200°C) until the mixture is boiling.
- After 1 hour, reduce the heat to 250°F (120°C) and continue baking for 11 hours (or 9 hours for a smaller recipe) until the Tourtiere is fully cooked and the flavors have melded together.
-
Serving:
