Instructions:
-
Prepare Ingredients:
- Peel and dice the potatoes.
- Chop the celery ribs.
- Dice the onion.
- Cut the cooked turkey into bite-sized pieces.
-
Saute Aromatics:
- In a large soup pot, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the diced onion, chopped celery ribs, and diced potatoes to the pot.
- Saute the vegetables for about 2 minutes until they start to soften and become fragrant.
-
Add Broth and Spices:
- Pour in the chicken broth and add the chicken bouillon cubes to the pot.
- Add 2 cups of water to the pot.
- Season with garlic powder, pepper, and thyme.
- Stir well to combine all the ingredients.
-
Simmer:
- Cover the pot with a lid and reduce the heat to low.
- Allow the soup to simmer for 15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together and the vegetables to become tender.
-
Add Turkey and Peas:
- After 15 minutes, uncover the pot and add the diced cooked turkey to the soup.
- If desired, add 1 cup of peas to the soup for added color and flavor.
-
Thicken Soup:
- In a small bowl, mix the flour and Worcestershire sauce together, adding enough water to form a smooth paste.
- Quickly stir the flour paste into the soup, ensuring it is well incorporated.
- Continue stirring until the soup thickens slightly, about 2-3 minutes.
-
Final Simmer:
- Allow the soup to simmer for an additional 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to fully develop and the soup to thicken to your desired consistency.
-
Serve:
- Ladle the hot turkey soup into bowls.
