  • Oregano for topping
  • Oil for sautéing

For the Beef Bolognese:

  • 100 grams ground beef
  • 70 grams onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • 100 grams tomatoes, blended until smooth
  • 2-3 tablespoons tomato sauce
  • Salt to taste
  • Granulated sugar to taste
  • Seasoning powder to taste
  • Oregano to taste

Instructions:

Preparing the Macaroni:

  1. Cook the macaroni in boiling salted water until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  1. Heat a pan and sauté the chopped onion and garlic until fragrant.
  2. Add the ground beef and stir until it changes color.
  3. Mix in the blended tomatoes, tomato sauce, salt, seasoning powder, sugar (if desired), and oregano. Stir well and cook until the liquid reduces. Set aside.

Making the Macaroni Schotel:

  1. In a pan, heat a bit of oil and sauté the chopped onion and garlic until fragrant.
  2. Pour in the milk, add the cooked macaroni, grated cheddar cheese, and powdered parmesan cheese. Stir well.
  3. Season with salt, ground black pepper, and sugar (if desired). Mix until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the beaten eggs, stirring continuously until the mixture thickens. Remove from heat and set aside.

Assembling and Baking:

  1. Preheat your oven to 170°C (338°F).
  2. Prepare a heatproof baking dish or loaf pan. Spread a layer of the macaroni mixture at the bottom.
  3. Add a layer of the beef bolognese over the macaroni and spread evenly.
  4. Top with the remaining macaroni mixture.
  5. Sprinkle grated cheddar cheese and oregano on top.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven until cooked through and the top is golden brown. Adjust baking time according to your oven.
  7. Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and serve with additional tomato sauce or chili sauce if desired.
