Description
This Cheesy Garlic Loaf is a delightful bread that was born out of necessity during the “Great Blackout of 2003.” In a bid to use up what couldn’t be saved from our fridges, we hosted a “Power Party” with the neighbors once the lights came back on. The result was this scrumptious loaf, packed with flavors of sharp cheddar, green onions, and a blend of spices. It’s perfect for any occasion and kid-friendly too! 🧀🧄

- 1 cup butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon chili powder

Instructions
-
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a glass loaf pan generously to ensure the loaf doesn’t stick. -
Prepare the Rolls:
Take the flaky rolls or biscuits and layer them in the loaf pan, standing them on their ends. Arrange them two across to fill the pan nicely. -
Mix the Seasoned Butter:
In a small bowl, combine the melted butter with garlic powder, chili powder, and dried oregano. Stir well to mix the spices evenly. -
Spread the Butter Mixture:
Using a pastry brush or a spoon, spread the seasoned butter mixture generously on each roll or biscuit. Make sure to coat them well to infuse the flavors deeply into the bread. -
Add the Toppings:
Sprinkle the grated sharp cheddar cheese, chopped green onions, and a bit of freshly ground black pepper between the layers of the rolls/biscuits. Be generous with the cheese to ensure every bite is cheesy and delicious. -
Bake to Perfection:
Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 20 minutes or until the cheese is bubbling, and the tops of the rolls/biscuits are golden brown and crusty. -
Serve and Enjoy:
Once baked, remove the loaf from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving. This cheesy garlic loaf is best enjoyed warm, allowing the cheese to stretch with every pull-apart piece. Serve it as an appetizer, a side dish, or a delicious snack at any gathering.
Chef’s Tips
- Customizable Cheesy Goodness: Feel free to experiment with different types of cheese or add other ingredients like chopped olives or sun-dried tomatoes for added flavor.
- Perfect for Sharing: This loaf is designed to be pulled apart, making it a fun and interactive dish for parties and family dinners.
- Kid-Friendly Twist: For a milder version that kids will love, reduce the chili powder or omit it entirely.
This Cheesy Garlic Loaf is not only a crowd-pleaser but also a wonderful way to bring people together, just as it did during our unforgettable “Power Party.” Happy baking and enjoy every cheesy, garlicky bite! 🍞🧀🌟
