This is the chocolate chip cookie recipe I’ve been using ever since I was given the recipe by a friend at work, who is an excellent baker! My kids love these cookies and request that I make them often!

Ingredients:

  • 2/3 cup shortening
  • 2/3 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions:

3 Add sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
4 Blend in flour, baking soda, and salt.
5 Stir in chocolate chips and pecans.
6 Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls onto baking sheet, 2 inches apart.
7 Bake for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned. PT0H10M
8 Do not over bake!
9 Cool slightly before removing to wire cooling rack.
10 To keep cookies soft, store in an airtight container with a slice of bread.
