These cinnamon rolls are a true delight, perfect for a cozy winter morning or a festive Christmas brunch. With a gooey filling and a heavenly cream cheese icing, they are simply irresistible. Prepare to fall in love with every bite!

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon clove
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted (divided)
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cups buttermilk
  • 6 ounces cream cheese
  • 2 tablespoons buttermilk
  • 2 cups confectioners’ sugar

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Heat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. Prepare Pan: Pour 1 tablespoon of melted butter into a 9-inch nonstick cake pan and brush it to coat the pan evenly.

  3. Make Filling: In a small bowl, combine the dark brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, clove, and salt for the filling. Add 1 tablespoon of melted butter and stir until the mixture resembles wet sand. Set aside.

  4. Prepare Dough: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  5. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a separate measuring cup or small bowl, whisk together the buttermilk and 2 tablespoons of melted butter.

  6. Combine Ingredients: Add the liquid mixture to the dry ingredients and stir with a wooden spoon until the liquid is absorbed.

  7. Knead Dough: Transfer the dough to a lightly floured work surface and knead it until it is just smooth.

  8. Shape Dough: Pat the dough with your hands into a 12 by 9-inch rectangle.

  9. Fill and Roll: Spread the filling mixture evenly over the dough. Roll up the dough tightly into a log and cut it into 9 pieces.

  10. Arrange Buns: Arrange the cut pieces in the buttered cake pan.

  11. Brush with Butter: Brush the tops of the buns with the remaining 2 tablespoons of melted butter.

  12. Bake: Bake the cinnamon rolls in the preheated oven until the edges are golden brown, about 23 to 25 minutes.

  13. Cool: Allow the cinnamon rolls to cool for about 5 minutes before icing.

  14. Make Icing: In a large bowl, whisk together the cream cheese and 2 tablespoons of buttermilk until thick and smooth. Sift the confectioners’ sugar over the mixture and whisk until a smooth glaze forms.

  15. Ice the Rolls: Spoon the glaze evenly over the warm buns.

  16. Serve: Serve the cinnamon rolls immediately and enjoy the warm, gooey goodness!

These cinnamon rolls are best enjoyed fresh out of the oven, with a steaming cup of coffee or hot cocoa. They are sure to become a favorite in your household, perfect for any occasion or just because!
