Traditional Caesar Salad Recipe

Description:

Nothing beats the original, and this is it. It takes a while to prepare, but it’s sooooo worth it! Add cooked chicken breast, shrimp, or beef to make a full meal. Don’t forget to pass extra anchovies!

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 3 garlic cloves (for dressing)
  • Salt, to taste
  • 4 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 anchovy fillets
  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 eggs, coddled
  • 3/4 cup parmesan cheese
  • 2 heads romaine lettuce

Instructions:

Step Description
1 In a small saucepan, heat butter, olive oil, and 2 cloves of minced garlic from the top of the recipe.
2 When the butter is melted, remove from heat and let sit for 10 minutes.
3 Remove the garlic, toss bread cubes with the butter mixture.
4 Spread the coated bread cubes on a baking sheet and bake at 350°F, shaking the pan once or twice, until the croutons are golden brown (about 10 minutes). Set aside.
5 In a large wooden salad bowl, rub a clove of garlic around the inside of the bowl for flavor.
6 Mash together the remaining 3 cloves of garlic and 1/2 tsp salt until they form a paste.
7 Whisk in lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and salt and pepper to taste.
8 Mash anchovy fillets in a small bowl until they form a paste, then add to the garlic mixture and whisk well.
9 Add 1/2 cup of extra virgin olive oil in a slow, steady stream, whisking constantly.
10 Add the coddled eggs and whisk until blended.
11 Tear the romaine lettuce into bite-sized pieces and add to the dressing along with the croutons. Toss until coated with dressing.
12 Sprinkle on parmesan cheese and toss lightly.
13 Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious Traditional Caesar Salad!
