Cook Time: 45 minutes
Prep Time: 25 minutes
Total Time: 1 hour and 10 minutes

Ingredients:

Quantity Ingredient
3 cups Milk
6 tbsp Butter
6 tbsp Margarine
1 cup + 1 tsp Sugar
1 tsp Salt
1/2 cup Warm Water
2 tbsp Active Dry Yeast
2 Eggs
9 cups All-Purpose Flour
1 cup Melted Butter (for filling)
1 1/4 cup Sugar (for filling)
2 tbsp Cinnamon (for filling)

Instructions:

  1. Scald the Milk: In a saucepan, scald the milk and stir in 6 tablespoons of butter, 6 tablespoons of sugar, and salt. Allow the mixture to cool to lukewarm.

  2. Prepare the Yeast: Dissolve 1 teaspoon of sugar in warm water, then sprinkle the yeast over the water mixture. Let it stand in a warm place for 10 minutes, then stir once.

  3. Combine Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the lukewarm milk mixture and eggs. Stir in the yeast mixture.

  4. Add Flour: Gradually add four to five cups of flour and mix well. Then, with a wooden spoon, add the remaining flour until a dough forms.

  5. Grease and Rise: Place the dough in a well-greased bowl, rolling it over to grease the top. Cover with a damp cloth and allow it to double in size for one hour.

  6. Shape the Buns: Punch down the dough and turn it out onto a floured surface. Divide it into two portions and roll each portion into a rectangle.

  7. Prepare the Filling: For the filling, combine melted butter, sugar, and cinnamon. Spread half of the filling mixture over each rectangle of dough.

  8. Roll and Slice: Roll up each rectangle of dough and slice into individual buns. A neat trick for slicing is to use a piece of string, placing it underneath the roll and crossing over opposite ends at the top to cut the pieces evenly.

  9. Grease and Proof: Grease a cookie tray with melted butter and place the slices on it, leaving enough space for them to expand while baking. Cover with greased waxed paper and allow them to double in size again for one hour.

  10. Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the cinnamon buns for 35 to 45 minutes until they are golden brown and cooked through.

  11. Serve: Remove the buns immediately from the tray and let them cool slightly. If desired, you can ice the buns for an extra touch of sweetness.

Serving Suggestions:

Enjoy these cinnamon buns warm with a hot cup of coffee or tea for a delightful breakfast or snack. They’re perfect for sharing with friends and family, or simply indulging in all by yourself. With their irresistible aroma and heavenly taste, these cinnamon buns are sure to become a favorite in your home.
