Description:

Indulge in the decadence of homemade Better Than Snickers Candy Bars! These bars are a delightful combination of caramel, marshmallow, peanut butter, and chocolate, making them a perfect treat for dessert, weeknight cravings, or entertaining large groups.

Ingredients:

1/4 cup Butter
1/2 cup Margarine
1/2 cup Brown sugar
1/4 cup Sugar
2/3 cup Corn syrup
1/4 cup Evaporated milk
2 1/2 tsp Vanilla
1/2 cup Sugar
1/2 cup Corn syrup
4 tbsp Water
12 oz Chocolate chips
1 cup Marshmallow base
1 1/2 cup Chunky peanut butter
2 cups Marshmallow base
2 pkg Chocolate chips (remaining)

Instructions:

  1. Make the Caramel:

    • Melt the butter or margarine in a small saucepan.
    • Add brown sugar, sugar, corn syrup, and evaporated milk. (Cream or whole milk can be used as a substitute for evaporated milk).
    • Cook on medium-high heat until the mixture reaches 244°F. This may take some time.
    • Remove from heat, stir in vanilla, and set aside.
  2. Prepare the Marshmallow Base:

    • Place egg whites in a large mixing bowl and prepare the electric mixer.
    • Ensure both the beaters and mixing bowl are completely dry.
    • In a 2-quart saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Mix well before heating.
    • Cook over medium heat, without stirring, until the mixture reaches 250°F. Remove from heat.
    • Quickly beat egg whites with a mixer until peaks form (about 1 minute).
    • Gradually pour the hot mixture into the egg whites while beating on high for about 3 minutes.
    • Continue beating for 1-2 minutes longer. Reserve 1 cup of the mixture for the peanut butter top.
  3. Prepare the Chocolate Marshmallow Mixture:

    • Melt 12 oz. of chocolate chips in a glass bowl in the microwave, stirring every 30 seconds until melted.
    • Pour melted chocolate into the large bowl of marshmallow base and fold carefully until thoroughly combined.
    • Let the mixture sit for ten minutes.
  4. Make the Peanut Butter Top:

    • Mix 2 cups of reserved marshmallow base with 1 1/2 cups of peanut butter until thoroughly combined.
  5. Form the Candy Bars:

    • Line cookie sheets with wax paper or plastic wrap.
    • Form the chocolate marshmallow mixture into walnut-sized balls, then flatten them into logs on the cookie sheets.
    • Place cookie sheets in the freezer for ten minutes.
    • Spread reserved caramel mixture on top of each candy bar.
    • Shape peanut butter marshmallow mixture and place it on top of the caramel.
    • Return candy bars to the freezer for ten more minutes.
  6. Final Coating:

    • Melt the remaining chocolate chips using the same method as before.
    • Coat individual candy bars with chocolate by dipping or spreading it with a knife.
    • Return bars to the freezer until the chocolate is firm.
  7. Serve and Store:

    • Store the Better Than Snickers Candy Bars in an airtight container for future enjoyment.
