Instructions:

  1. Brownies: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line the bottom and two sides of an 8-inch square baking pan with foil, leaving an overhang on two opposite sides for easy lifting later.

  2. In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, salt, and baking powder until well combined. Set aside.

  3. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter and chocolate over medium heat, stirring frequently until smooth and fully melted. Remove from heat.

  4. Stir in the granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract into the melted chocolate mixture until well combined.

  5. Gradually add the flour mixture into the chocolate mixture, stirring until just combined and no streaks of flour remain.

  6. Spread 1 cup of the brownie batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.

  7. Reserve about 32 peanut butter cup quarters for topping and sprinkle the remaining peanut butter cups over the batter in the pan.

  8. Carefully spread the remaining brownie batter over the peanut butter cup layer, covering them completely.
