Spicy Korean Chicken Wings
Ingredients:
Chicken Wings:
- 4 chicken wings, each cut into two pieces, cleaned thoroughly
Marinade Sauce:
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
Coating:
- 3 tablespoons rice flour
- 1 teaspoon black pepper powder
- 1 teaspoon chicken bouillon powder
- Oil, for frying
Sauce:
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon tomato sauce
- 1 tablespoon chili sauce
- 1 packet of Bon Cabe level 13 (adjust to taste)
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon margarine, for sautéing
Garnish:
- 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
- 1 stalk of scallions, finely chopped
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Chicken:
- Clean the chicken wings thoroughly and cut each wing into two pieces.
- Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the chicken and let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Rinse the chicken wings again and pat them dry.
2. Marinate the Chicken:
- Place the chicken wings in a clean plastic bag.
- Add the salt, black pepper, oyster sauce, and sesame oil to the bag.
- Seal the bag and mix well to ensure the chicken is evenly coated.
- Marinate in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
3. Prepare the Coating:
- In a bowl, combine the rice flour, black pepper powder, and chicken bouillon powder.
- Remove the chicken from the marinade and coat each piece with the flour mixture until evenly covered.
4. Fry the Chicken:
- Heat a generous amount of oil in a frying pan over low heat.
- Fry the chicken wings until they are golden brown and crispy, ensuring the inside is cooked through. This may take about 15-20 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
5. Make the Sauce:
- In a separate pan, melt the margarine over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.
- Stir in the tomato sauce, chili sauce, Bon Cabe, granulated sugar, and oyster sauce.
- Cook the mixture until it is well combined and slightly thickened.
6. Combine and Serve:
- Add the fried chicken wings to the sauce and toss to coat them evenly.
- Once the wings are thoroughly coated, remove them from the heat.
- Transfer the wings to a serving plate.
- Garnish with toasted sesame seeds and finely chopped scallions.
