    • Reserve the turkey carcass but discard the cooked vegetables.
    • Return the strained stock to a simmer over medium heat.
  4. Add Barley and Vegetables:

    • Stir in the pearl barley and simmer the broth, covered, for an additional 30 minutes.
    • After 30 minutes, add the diced carrots, onion, and turnips to the simmering broth.
    • Continue to simmer the soup for another 30 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender.
  5. Finish and Serve:

    • Once the vegetables are tender, add the diced turkey meat back into the soup.
    • Season the soup generously with salt and pepper to taste.
