Instructions:
Step | Description |
---|---|
1 | In a large pot, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Do not drain off fat as dogs do require some fat in their diets. |
2 | Add diced carrot, drained and rinsed red kidney beans, wheat germ, cooked macaroni, cooked brown rice, cooked barley, and water to the pot with the browned ground beef. Stir well to combine. |
3 | Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat. |
4 | Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer gently for 45 minutes. |
5 | Check and stir periodically during cooking. If the stew becomes too thick, add a little more water to achieve the desired consistency. |
6 | After 45 minutes of simmering, the stew should have a thick, soup-like consistency. |
7 | Remove the pot from heat and allow the stew to cool. It will thicken up further as it cools. |
8 | Once cooled, portion the stew into individual serving size containers. For example, if you have small dogs like poodles, freeze the stew in 1-cup containers, giving each dog 1/2 cup in the mornings. For larger dogs, use larger containers. |
9 | When ready to serve, remove the lid from the container and microwave the stew until lukewarm. Stir well to ensure there are no hot spots before serving to your furry friends. |
This wholesome ground beef stew is not only easy to make but also provides essential nutrients for your dogs’ health and happiness. With simple ingredients and minimal prep time, you can ensure your furry companions enjoy a delicious and nutritious meal every time! 🐾
