Mustard Pickles Recipe

Description:
This cherished recipe, passed down through generations, hails from my great-great grandmother’s kitchen to yours. These Mustard Pickles offer a delightful “kick” thanks to the infusion of horseradish. Fear not, the spice level is just right, making these pickles simply irresistible. Stored snugly in a gallon jar within my “Extra” fridge, they serve as a flavorful treat all winter long. Mmmmm Mmmmmm!

Ingredients:
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup mustard
- 1 cup salt
- 1 cup vinegar
- 1 cup horseradish
- 2 cucumbers
Instructions:
- Scrub cucumbers and place them in the above mixture.
- These pickles are ready to eat in 10 days.
- Storage: Keep in a glass crock or a 1-gallon jar with a cheesecloth “lid.” Lay a piece of cheesecloth over the jar or crock to “create” a lid. Secure it in place with a rubber band or string. If using a jar, utilize the metal band typically used in canning, but omit the flat lid. This allows air in while keeping out unwelcome intruders like dust, bugs, and mold.
- These pickles will keep all winter in a cool place.
