Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a saucepan, combine the kokum juice, water, and grated jaggery. If you’re using unsalted kokum juice, add salt to taste.
  2. Heat Gently: Place the saucepan over low heat, stirring occasionally, until the jaggery completely dissolves. Avoid boiling the mixture to retain the fresh flavors.
  3. Prepare Seasoning: While the kokum mixture is warming, heat ghee in a small tadka (seasoning) pan. Add the cumin seeds, hing, curry leaves, and broken chillies. Sauté until fragrant and the spices crackle.
  4. Combine and Serve: Remove the seasoning from heat and pour it over the kokum mixture. Stir gently to combine. Take off the heat, garnish with chopped coriander leaves, and serve immediately.

Serving Suggestions

Kokum Saar is best enjoyed fresh, ideally alongside Matki Chi Rassa Bhaji, Steamed Rice, and a refreshing Kachumber Salad. This combination not only enhances the meal but also offers a perfect blend of flavors, making it an ultimate addition to your everyday dining experience.

Enjoy your refreshing Kokum Saar and savor the essence of Maharashtrian cuisine!
