Spicy Tuna (Tongkol dicabe2in) Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 pieces of tuna steaks (adjust based on size; 2 pieces approximately the size of those sold by vegetable vendors)
- 3 shallots
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 10 red chilies
- 5 bird’s eye chilies
- 1 tomato
- Sugar, to taste
- Salt, to taste
- Seasoning (such as chicken or beef bouillon), to taste
- Kaffir lime leaves
Instructions:

Prepare the Tuna: Clean and cut the tuna steaks into pieces according to your preference.

Make the Spice Paste: Blend the shallots, garlic, red chilies, bird’s eye chilies, and tomato together until smooth.

Pre-cook the Tuna: Heat oil in a pan and lightly fry the tuna pieces until they are half-cooked. Remove them from the pan and drain excess oil.

Cook the Spice Paste: In the same pan, sauté the blended spice paste along with the kaffir lime leaves until fragrant.

Combine Tuna and Spice Paste: Add the pre-cooked tuna pieces into the pan with the spice paste. Pour in a bit of water to help the spices infuse into the tuna. Cover the pan and let it simmer for a few minutes.

Season the Dish: Add salt, sugar, and seasoning to taste. Cover again and continue cooking until the liquid has reduced and the tuna is well-coated with the spice paste.

Adjust and Serve: Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary. Once the dish is ready, serve hot.
