Tiger Waffles Recipe 🐯πŸ₯ž

Overview:

Name: Tiger Waffles
Cook Time: 5 minutes
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 10 minutes
Description: Resembles Belgian waffles but easier, and moister than a pancake. It’s a handy alternative when no access to a stove. Good with syrup or whipped cream and fruit sauce, or as part of a meal with gravy or cream sauce.
Category: Breads
Keywords: Breakfast, Grains, Low Cholesterol, Kid Friendly, < 15 Mins, Easy
Servings: 1
Yield: 1 waffle

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 – 3/4 cup pancake mix
  • 1 – 2 tablespoons margarine
  • 1 pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Grill:

    • Change the angle on the George Foreman meat cooking grill so it is level, not tilted anymore (I used the small George Foreman grill– the one that cooks approximately 4 hamburgers).
    • Use the spare legs or the drain tray upside down or a similar method.
    • Preheat the grill for 5 minutes–use a timer.
  2. Prepare the Batter:

    • In a mixing bowl, combine the water, pancake mix, and a pinch of salt until smooth. Adjust the amount of pancake mix according to your desired thickness.
  3. Grease the Grill:

    • Lightly grease both sides of the grill with margarine. Do not use butter in the grill as it will burn black and smoke.
  4. Cooking:

    • Pour the entire batter gently into the grill, smoothing it carefully to ensure even cooking.
    • Close the grill and let it cook for about a minute or until steaming slows down or stops.
    • Open the grill and test with a toothpick to see if it’s done. If not, close the grill for an additional 10 to 30 seconds.
    • Once done, open the grill and remove the tiger waffle. It will have golden brown and dark brown tiger stripes and be moist like a Belgian waffle but with a unique taste and texture.
  5. Serving:

    • Serve hot with syrup, hot fruit sauces, or as part of a meal instead of potatoes or rice, particularly with a gravy or cream sauce.
