Description:

Have some overcooked apples? Don’t throw them away! Turn them into a delicious Apple Caramel Syrup that’s perfect for drizzling over ice cream, pancakes, or waffles. This easy recipe transforms tart apples into a sweet and luscious syrup that will elevate any dessert or breakfast treat.

Ingredients:

  • 4 large apples (preferably baking apples)
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup Karo Syrup
  • 1/4 – 1/2 cup Mrs. Richards Caramel Topping (adjust to taste)

Instructions:

  1. Start by preparing your apples. If they are overcooked and too soft, peel and core them. Since they are already soft, you can mash them with their juices, leaving some lumps for texture.

  2. In a large kettle or pot, combine the mashed apples and their juices.

  3. Place the pot over medium heat and add the sugar, Karo Syrup, and Mrs. Richards Caramel Topping.

  4. Stir the mixture continuously until the sugar has dissolved completely and the ingredients are well combined.

  5. Increase the heat to bring the mixture to a boil. Allow it to boil for a couple of minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent burning.

  6. Once the mixture has boiled and thickened slightly, remove it from the heat.

  7. Carefully ladle the hot syrup into clean pint jars, leaving a little space at the top to allow for expansion.

  8. Seal the jars tightly with lids and rings.

  9. Process the sealed jars in a water bath canner for 30 minutes to ensure they are properly sealed and preserved.

  10. After processing, carefully remove the jars from the canner and let them cool completely at room temperature.

  11. Once cooled, store the jars in a cool, dark place for up to a year.

  12. Enjoy your homemade Apple Caramel Syrup drizzled over ice cream, pancakes, waffles, or any other dessert of your choice!
