Description:

These Roll-Out Cookies are my go-to recipe for using cookie cutters. The best part? There’s no need to chill the dough, making this a quick and easy treat to whip up whenever a craving strikes!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions:

Step Description
1 Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
2 In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar using an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
3 Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
4 In a separate bowl, mix together the flour and baking powder.
5 Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, 1 cup at a time, mixing well after each addition.
6 For the last 3/4 cup of flour, you may need to incorporate it by hand as the dough becomes stiff.
7 Divide the dough into 2 equal balls.
8 On a floured surface, roll out each ball of dough to a thickness of 1/8 inch.
9 Use your favorite cookie cutters to cut out shapes from the dough.
10 Place the cut-out cookies onto baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
11 Bake in the preheated oven for 6-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly browned.
12 Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
13 Once cooled, decorate the cookies as desired, or simply enjoy them as is!

Tips:

  • If you prefer softer cookies, aim for a shorter baking time, around 6-8 minutes.
