Mini Spinach Calzones Recipe

  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 package refrigerated pizza dough

Instructions:

Step Description
1 In a large mixing bowl, combine the frozen chopped spinach, reduced-fat cream cheese, finely chopped green onions, grated Parmesan cheese, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined. Set aside.
2 Lightly flour a clean surface and roll out the refrigerated pizza dough into a 15-inch square.
3 Using a sharp knife, cut the rolled-out dough into 25 three-inch squares.
4 Spoon a heaping teaspoon of the spinach and cheese filling onto the center of each dough square.
5 Lightly brush the edges of the dough squares with water to help seal the calzones.
6 Lift one corner of each dough square and stretch it over the filling to meet the opposite corner, forming a triangle. Press the edges of the dough together firmly to seal the calzones.
7 Using a fork, prick the tops of the calzones to allow steam to escape during baking.
8 Lightly brush the tops of the calzones with milk to help achieve a golden-brown crust.
9 Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and grease a baking sheet. Place the assembled calzones on the prepared baking sheet.
10 Bake the calzones in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
11 Once baked, remove the calzones from the oven and allow them to cool slightly before serving.
