Biscuit Topped Deep Dish Chicken Recipe

Ingredients:

2 cups cooked chicken
1 cup flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp parsley
2 tbsp butter
1/2 cup milk

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and grease a 2-quart casserole dish to prepare it for the dish.

  2. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.

  3. Add in the chopped carrots, potatoes, onion, and celery to the saucepan and cook and stir for about 2 minutes.

  4. Pour in the water and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes until the vegetables are tender.

  5. Sprinkle the flour, parsley, poultry seasoning, salt, and pepper over the vegetables. Stir until well combined.

  6. Gradually pour in the milk and chicken bouillon, stirring constantly. Continue to cook and stir over medium heat until the mixture comes to a boil and thickens.

  7. Stir in the cooked chicken pieces and then pour the mixture into the prepared casserole dish, spreading it evenly.

  8. For the biscuit topping, in a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and parsley.

  9. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  10. Gradually add in the milk, stirring until a soft dough forms.

  11. Drop spoonfuls of the biscuit dough onto the top of the chicken mixture in the casserole dish.

  12. Place the casserole dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 35 minutes, or until the mixture is bubbly and the biscuits are golden brown on top.

  13. Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.
