Tuna Steak Recipe with Savory Tomato Sauce

This Tuna Steak recipe features perfectly grilled tuna fillets paired with a rich, tangy tomato sauce and a medley of fresh vegetables. Ideal for a delightful lunch or dinner, it’s both flavorful and nutritious.

Ingredients

For the Tuna Steak:

  • 1/4 kg (about 8 oz) tuna fillet (cut into 2 pieces for serving)
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 1 lime (juiced)

For the Vegetables:

  • 2 medium potatoes, peeled, cut into chunks, and fried
  • 1 large carrot, peeled and cut into pieces
  • 6 green beans, trimmed
  • Broccoli florets, as needed

For the Sauce:

  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1/2 bottle (small) tomato ketchup
  • 1/4 bottle (small) chili sauce (adjust according to taste for spiciness)
  • Salt to taste
  • Sugar to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 1 cup water
  • Cooking oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tuna:

    • Rinse the tuna fillets thoroughly under cold water.
    • Marinate the fillets with lime juice, a pinch of salt, and black pepper. Allow them to rest for about 5 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  2. Cook the Vegetables:

    • Peel and cut the potatoes into chunks. Fry them in hot oil until golden brown and crispy.
    • In a separate pot, bring water to a boil. Add the carrot, green beans, and broccoli, and cook until tender but still crisp. Drain and set aside.
  3. Grill the Tuna:

    • Heat a non-stick skillet or grill pan over medium heat with a small amount of oil.
    • Place the marinated tuna fillets in the pan and cook until they reach your desired level of doneness, turning occasionally. Remove the tuna from the pan once cooked.
  4. Make the Sauce:

    • In the same pan used for the tuna, add a bit more oil if needed. Sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until fragrant and translucent.
    • Add the tomato ketchup and chili sauce to the pan. Stir well to combine.
    • Pour in the water and mix until smooth. Season with salt, sugar, and black pepper to taste. Let the sauce simmer until it reduces and thickens slightly.
  5. Assemble and Serve:

    • Arrange the cooked tuna fillets on a plate.
    • Top with the tomato sauce and serve with the fried potatoes and the blanched vegetables arranged neatly around the tuna.

This dish is perfect for packing into a lunch box or serving as a hearty dinner. Enjoy the savory flavors and vibrant textures of this Tuna Steak with Tomato Sauce, a delightful meal that’s both satisfying and easy to prepare.
