Simple Pindang Tongkol Recipe
Pindang Tongkol is a delightful Indonesian dish that brings together the robust flavors of traditional spices and fresh fish. This recipe showcases how to create this dish simply and deliciously, perfect for a comforting meal.
Ingredients:
- 500 grams of tongkol fish (cleaned and cut into pieces)
- 8 shallots (sliced)
- 4 cloves of garlic (sliced)
- 2 tomatoes (one tomato cut into quarters)
- 5-7 bird’s eye chilies
- 2 stalks of lemongrass (bruised)
- 2 cm galangal (bruised)
- 2-3 cm turmeric (bruised)
- 2 cm ginger + 2 cm kencur (bruised)
- Salt, sugar, and cooking oil to taste
- Water as needed

- Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the sliced shallots, garlic, bruised lemongrass, galangal, turmeric, ginger, and kencur. SautΓ© until the shallots and garlic become translucent and fragrant, and the spices release their aroma.
