Spicy Black Pepper Beef Stir-Fry

Black Pepper Beef (Daging Sapi Lada Hitam) Recipe
Ingredients:
- 500 grams (1/2 kg) beef
- For Sautéing:
- 10 cloves garlic
- 1.5 cm ginger
 
- For Additional Seasoning:
- 2 tablespoons sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
- 1/2 tablespoon flavor enhancer (Masako)
- 1.5 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 5 tablespoons black pepper
 
- For Marinating Beef:
- 2 tablespoons cooking oil
- 4 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 3 tablespoons sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
 
- For Garnish:
- 7 large red chilies (seeds removed and diced)
- 7 green chilies (seeds removed and diced)
- 1 large onion (diced)
 
- Thickening Agent:
- 3 tablespoons water
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch (mixed with the water)
 
Instructions:
- 
Prepare the Beef: - Slice the beef into long strips and marinate with the marinade ingredients (cooking oil, oyster sauce, and sweet soy sauce). Allow it to marinate for at least 1 hour to absorb the flavors.
 
- 
Prepare the Aromatics: Related Articles- Finely chop the garlic and ginger. Sauté them in a pan over medium heat until fragrant.
 
- 
Cook the Beef: - Add the marinated beef to the pan with the sautéed aromatics. Stir to combine and let it cook until the beef is browned. Cover the pan with a lid to retain moisture.

Add Seasonings: - Once the beef is partially cooked and the liquid has reduced slightly, add 2 tablespoons of sweet soy sauce, 1/2 tablespoon of flavor enhancer, and 1.5 tablespoons of granulated sugar. Mix well to combine all the flavors.

Incorporate Garnish Ingredients: - Stir in the diced red and green chilies, and the diced onion. Continue cooking, allowing the flavors to meld together.

Add Black Pepper: - Sprinkle 5 tablespoons of black pepper into the pan, mixing thoroughly to coat the beef with the pepper.

Thicken the Sauce: - Combine the cornstarch with water to create a slurry. Pour this into the pan and stir well. Cook until the sauce thickens and the beef is tender and fully cooked.
