Beef Stroganoff: A Creamy Delight

Ingredients:

  • 400 grams of beef, sliced into bite-sized pieces
  • 100 grams of button mushrooms, quartered
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 20 grams of butter
  • 1/2 tablespoon of tapioca flour
  • Seasonings:
    • 5 tablespoons of tomato paste or tomato sauce
    • 180 grams of sour cream (approximately 200 ml)
    • Salt and pepper to taste
    • 200 ml of water
    • 2 teaspoons of beef bouillon powder

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Slice the onion thinly and cut the button mushrooms into quarters. Cut the beef into bite-sized pieces.

  2. Cook the Beef: In a large skillet, heat 5 grams of butter over medium-high heat. Add the beef pieces, seasoning them with salt and pepper to taste. Sauté until the beef is browned and cooked through. Once done, remove the beef from the skillet and set it aside.

  3. Sauté the Aromatics: In the same skillet, add the remaining 15 grams of butter. Sauté the sliced onions until they are soft and translucent. Add the quartered mushrooms to the skillet and continue to cook until the mushrooms are browned.

  4. Combine Ingredients: Return the browned beef to the skillet. Stir to combine with the onions and mushrooms. Add the water, beef bouillon powder, and tomato paste. Mix well and let it simmer for 5 minutes.

  5. Finish the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix the tapioca flour with the sour cream until smooth. Stir this mixture into the skillet. Cook, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency.

  6. Serve: Once the sauce has thickened, remove the skillet from the heat. Serve your creamy Beef Stroganoff over a bed of rice for a comforting and satisfying meal.

Tips:

  • Tenderizing Beef: If you’re concerned about the beef being tough or chewy, you can simmer the beef in water before adding it to the skillet. The beef broth can be used in place of water and bouillon powder for extra flavor.

  • Adjusting Flavor: For a darker color and more intense flavor, reduce the amount of sour cream. You can also substitute the sour cream with plain yogurt and add a splash of lemon juice for a similar tangy taste.
