Sempol Ayam Recipe: Savory Chicken Skewers with a Crispy Finish
Ingredients:
- 4 tablespoons chicken corned beef (kornet ayam)
- 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 6 tablespoons tapioca flour
- 1 egg
- 3 cloves garlic
- Salt to taste
- Ground black pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon flavor enhancer (Masako) or substitute with chicken bouillon
- 1 egg, beaten (for coating)
- 3 cups water (add 1 teaspoon coconut oil for boiling)
- Oil for frying
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Garlic and Mixture:
Begin by finely mincing the garlic cloves. Combine the minced garlic with the chicken corned beef in a large mixing bowl. Add the egg to the bowl. -
Mix Dry Ingredients:
Gradually incorporate the all-purpose flour and tapioca flour into the mixture. Season with salt, ground black pepper, and Masako (or chicken bouillon). Mix thoroughly until the ingredients are well combined. -
Shape the Sempol:
Form the mixture into small, cylindrical shapes or any preferred form, ensuring they are uniform in size to cook evenly. -
Boil the Sempol:
Bring the water to a boil in a large pot, adding 1 teaspoon of coconut oil. Gently drop the shaped sempol into the boiling water. Cook until they float to the surface, indicating they are cooked through. Once they float, remove them from the pot and let them cool. -
Fry the Sempol:
Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Dip the cooled sempol into the beaten egg, ensuring they are fully coated. Fry the sempol in the hot oil until they turn golden brown and crispy. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels. -
Serve:
Skewer the fried sempol with satay sticks or skewers. Serve hot with your favorite sambal or chili sauce for a delightful and savory snack.
Enjoy this easy-to-make, crispy sempol ayam, perfect as a snack or appetizer.
